Lot Essay

Félix Delamarche took over the family business after the death of his father Charles-François Delamarche in 1817 (author of Les Usages de la Sphère, et des Globes Céleste et Terreste, lot xx). He then ran it until, "the firm went over to Gosselin who had become its manager in 1848" (Dekker and van der Krogt, p. 78).
This globe shows a partial coastline including Terre d'Enterby (discovered 1833) in the Antarctic, so probably dates from the 1830s.
