An anonymous late 19th century 3-inch (7.6cm.) diameter facsimile terrestrial pocket globe, unsigned and undated, after Matthaus Seutter (1678-1757), Augsburg, the title cartouche in the South Pacific reading Globus Terrestris juxta recentissimas observatiam, et navigationes perittissimer. Geograph accuratisme delineat cura et sumtibus Matth. Seutteri. & Chalcogr: August. (no date but c.1710, the original probably of 8-inch diameter), made up of twelve coloured printed paper gores, polar calottes, the continents coloured yellow, pink and green, California shown as an island, Eastern Australia not shown, with small descriptive cartouche in Africa (describing the source of the Nile) and in North Pacific, the oceans marked with six decorative wind roses, with steel axis pins in (restored) fishskin covered case (lacking hooks and eyes), the rim painted red, the interior with printed coloured celestial chart Globus Coeleitis in quo omnes Alterismi accurato cura et nupensis Mattæi Seutteri Chalcogr. August, made up of two sets of twelve coloured printed paper gores with polar calottes, the constellations depicted by mythical beasts and figures.
