A 6¼-inch (16cm.) diameter terrestrial table globe, made up of twelve hand coloured lithographed gores and two polar calottes, the equatorial graduated in degrees, the ecliptic not shown, the continents coloured and outlined (neat restoration to small areas), mounted on a brass rod with acorn finial, on turned fruitwood column and plinth, with ink inscription to underside of plinth, [?]donné par l'auteur P. M. Cosset ... de Juin 1841 -- 11¾in. (30cm.) high, with 6½-inch (17cm.) diameter spherical casing of two halves, lined internally with two set of twelve colour printed gores, the equatorial graduated in hours (in Roman numerals), the ecliptic graduated in degrees, the Milky Way, the stars and the constellations shown, the outside covered with two sets of twelve printed gores, titled GLOBE CELESTE et PROJECTION TERRESTRE ... H. Selves, showing the equatorial graduated in degrees, the lines of latitude and longitude, the tropics and the polar circles (cracked, the exterior gores worn), with brass rim to edges with cutouts for the terrestrial globe rod.
