The central spiralling tapered and beaded columns each flanked by the figures of three ostriches, below urn-shaped tops with sprays of interlacing scrolls and foliate ornament, the spreading bases applied with tasseled drapery mounts, further foliate ornament and crescent motifs, drilled for electricity

Lot Essay

The present stands are copies after a design by Daguerre, supplied by Jarossay in the form of a clock garniture, for the Comte d'Artois' Turkish boudoir in Versailles.
