Lot Essay

Mercié, Marius Jean Antonin, 1845-1916. His reputation was established with the bronze figure of David in 1872. Later he became President of the Societé des Atristes Francais and one of the few sculptors to achieve the rank of Grand Officier in the Légion d'Honneur.
