AN AUSTRIAN AND THREE CONTINENTAL SILVER TORAH POINTERS
The first late 19th century, maker's mark E G(?), probably that of Elizabeth Gendel, the remainder apparently unmarked, 19th century; the last unmarked.
All with hand pointers, the Austrian example with baluster handle engraved with flowers and geometric motifs, with decorated sleeve and ruffled cuff, with chain--13in. (33cm.) long; the second with ropetwist stem and spherical knops engraved with Hebrew inscriptions, and date ?1755, with pendant ring--10in. (25.4cm.) long; the other parcel-gilt with molded bands and fluted center with applied spiral ropework, the foliate heart-shaped top with pendant ring--12in. (31.1cm.) long; the last with twisted then paneled stem engraved with Hebrew dedicatory inscription to the CHEVRA KADDISHA and date 1782, with two compressed knops--8in. (21.5cm.) long. (4)
