Contrary to the indication on the title, the typography of this edition gives evidence that it was not printed in the Netherlands, but in France, probably in Bayonne. Isaac de Acosta (or da Costa) had been educated in the Sephardic community Talmud Torah of Amsterdam, under the guidance of Haham Isaac Aboab da Fonseca, the first American rabbi, to whom he dedicated the work. From about 1690 he served as hazan (cantor) in the Sephardic community of Peyrehorade, France. In 1697 he was appointed rabbi of the congregation of Nepusoth Jehudah, in Bayonne. His grave is still preserved in the Jewish cemetery of that city. RARE. NOT IN BRITISH LIBRARY, NOT IN BIBLIOTHQUE NATIONALE, PARIS.
