William Romaine (1714-1795), London divine, was the general editor of this second edition, and the concordance represents his major contribution to critical biblical studies. An early follower of Wesley and evangelical Calvinism, his rousing sermons attracted many poor people to hear him and he was forced to resign from several parishes before settling at St. Anne's, Blackfriars.
