The three generations of the Mather family (Richard, Increase and Cotton) traced their American roots in the Plymouth Colony from 1635 when Richard reached Boston. Increase (1639-1723) was born in Dorchester, MA and ordained in Boston in 1664. From 1688 to 1692 he was in London representing the Colony's interest and was president of Harvard from 1685-1701.
RARE. A celebrated "Americanum" which was for a long time hopefully regarded as having been printed by Samuel Green at Cambridge, MA. No copy at auction since the Voy sale in 1942, according to ABPC.
