A Japanese ivory tusk vase carved in relief and inlaid in mother of pearl and stained ivory with a continuous scene of peasants working in fields and wading in a river surrounded by cockerels, hens and chicks, before a mill, the reverse with an eagle perched on a branch about to swoop on two monkeys seated in the hollow of a tree, all in a landscape of pine, blossoming trees, bamboo, lingzhi sprays and rockwork, metal liner, fitted wood stand decorated in gilt with butterflies and trailing foliage -- 10¼in. (26cms) high.
