Launch, Djibouti 'Vedette, Djibouti'

After the Second World War, Lantoine, official painter to the French Navy, was sent on mission to Djibouti abord the Paul Goffeny. He then visited Madagascar, and, in 1955, the coast of Somalia. An oil, Evening in Djibouti (Soir à Djibouti), in the collection of the municipal museum of Boulogne Billancourt, is illustrated in the exhibition catalogue published by the museum, Coloniales 1820-1940, 1989, p. 19.
