the first, keyless lever, white enamel dial signed Grant & Son, South Shields, Roman numerals, outer seconds divided into fifths, gold hour and minute hands, blued centre seconds hand, signed three quarter plate frosted gilt movement with screwed chatons and bimetallic compensation balance, gold cuvette with engraved presentation inscription, case with engraved monogram and stop slide in the band, Chester marks for 1899, winding crown lacking, diameter 50mm; the second with Gothic Roman numerals, outer seconds divided into fifths, gilt fusee movement signed James Howard, Market Street, Manchester, No.7262, lever escapement with cut bimetallic compensation balance, case with vacant cartouche and milled band, Chester marks for 1864, diameter 50mm.
