a flemish brass-mounted red tortoiseshell and ebony cabinet-on-stand
Late 17th Century Early 18th Century
Inlaid overall with ebony and ivory lines and banded in tortoiseshell, with shaped tortoiseshell panels within pierced foliate mounts, the rectangular moulded cornice edged with ripple mouldings, the facade with ten short drawers and two long drawers each simulated as two drawers, centred by a pair of doors centred by ovals, surmounted by pierced scrolling foliage, and above a scallop shell flanked by cornucopiae, enclosing a fitted architectural interior with a central mirrored recess above an ivory and ebony floor surrounded by twelve variously-sized ivory-banded tortoiseshell drawers, the later stand with ring-turned baluster legs joined by a box-stretcher
