Oblong gold box shaped as a picnic basket, the hinged lid and base applied with slightly bombé plaques of jade in the Chinese style pierced and carved with foliage, flowers and bats, the sides enamelled with a stylized floral pattern in translucent blue and green on a guilloché ground, the push-piece set with an oblong sapphire cabochon, the cover centered by a green and blue enamelled hook fixing the large lapis-lazuli suspension ring, the interior with a mirror in the cover, the base with hinged flat cover opening to reveal the compartment for the powder pad -- 57 mm wide
