all signed, two by Cartier, one by Boucheron, circa 1940

A gold powder-compact by Cartier, of flattened oblong shape, engraved with horizontal reeding and vertically reeded borders, the cover applied with a pierced and engraved rectangular panel of green/white jade embellished with rose-cut diamonds, the left and right hand sides with green-jade set pushpieces; the interior fitted with a mirror and three compartments, one with hinged cover -- 116 mm wide; together with a white gold cigarette box by Cartier (New York), numbered 1509 and marked 14K, rectangular, the cover and base decorated with vertical engine-turning, the sides with horizontal guilloché, the cover furthermore engraved with four horizontal burnished bars and applied with two slightly raised motifs of five vertical tapering stripes of yellow gold, each set with six raised rubies mounted à jour, the thumbpiece set with three matching rubies, the inside of the base engraved "EDWINA ATWELL" -- 75mm wide; together with a rectangular silver cigarette box by Boucheron Paris, numbered BT No 875012, the base stamped with number 61.186, the gilt cover pierced and engraved with butterflies and foliage on a blue glass ground, the engraved flowerheads applied with rubies mounted à jour, the sides engraved with horizontal engine-turning, the base with vertical guilloché, the inside of the cover with vertical engine-turning and with a hinge to reveal the blue glass plaque; the reeded thumbpiece gilt and raised -- 97 mm long (3)
