AN ART DÉCO JEWELLED AND PEARL-SET GOLD AND HARDSTONE VANITY-CASE
possibly Italian, circa 1925/1930
Rectangular flat box with canted corners, the hinge and push-piece at the short sides, the cover and sides set with bevelled tiger's eye plaques, the sides enamelled in translucent orange-brown on a wavy guilloché ground imitating tiger's eye panels, the cover, sides and base decorated in the middle with a horizontal band studded with seed pearls and single-cut diamonds, the push-piece set with an old European-cut brown diamond, the interior fitted with a mirror, a powder compartment and a lip-stick holder (cap missing) -- 77 mm long, minor damage
