Rectangular box with rounded corners, the lid inset with a rectangular enamel plaque painted with the Fountain of Love, after Fragonard, within a split-pearl border surrounded with a band of stylized acanthus on a black enamel band, framed by a blue enamel stripe on a gold ground, the four side panels and the base enamelled in translucent blue and black on a wavy engine-turned gold ground, the corners and borders with blue, white and black opaque enamel and engraved gold leaves
