Rectangular box, the cover and base enamelled in translucent green on a guilloché scalework ground, the lid centred by a glazed oval enamel miniature depicting King Louis XIV of France (1638-1715) bust-length in armour and full-bottomed wig, wearing the sash of the Royal French Order of the Holy Ghost, surrounded by a gold frame chased with a laurel wreath with a ribbon-tie surmount, the base chased with an oval rosette with a patera in the middle, the sides enamelled with translucent green narrow flutes alternating with broad flutes centred by gold rosettes, the gold borders chased with bands twisted with laurel garlands
