Oval box, the cover and base engraved with concentrical engine-turning, the four side panels with horizontal reeding, the lid centred by an oval enamel plaque painted in sepia with two young Vestal Virgins pouring incense, framed by a white enamel stripe enclosing blue and gold paillons on a ribbon-twist band, the borders and side pilasters flanked by opaque white enamel stripes and opaque blue bands with gold leaf-paillons, the base engraved with a circular central rosette
