Michel-Robert Hallet (or Hallé) struck his mark in 1737 under the caution of the famous gold box maker Claude de Villers. The most celebrated of Hallet's pupils was Jean-Baptiste Beckers. On 20 August 1754, the Affiches de Paris announced the burial of Michel-Robert Hallet, orfèvre du Roi. In the same year, Hallet was succeeded as a joaillier du Roi by his son Etienne-Michel.
