Oval box, the cover, side panels and base enamelled in translucent green on an engine-turned feathered scalework ground, the cover centred by an oval enamel plaque depicting a putto guiding two young satyre musicians painted in sepia on a pink ground, framed by a pierced garland of husks, the sides applied with chased laurel festoons looped through drop rings, the base engraved with a floral rosette

Lot Essay

The interior of the cover is engraved with a presentation inscription: "FROM HER MAJESTY QUEEN CHARLOTTE TO COLONEL PETER RYVES HAWKER 1st TROOP OF HORSE GUARDS".
