Three German Rococo gilt-metal mounted enamel Snuff-Boxes
one by Gottfried Chodowiecki, signed, all circa 1740/1760
Two of rectangular shape, one of which by Gottfried Chodowiecki, the cover and base painted with Jupiter and Callisto, the inside of the lid with Leda and the Swan, the sides with various Nymphs, Amoretti and Muses, the other rectangular one painted with scènes galantes, the third one of oval shape and with baluster sides, both sides of the lid painted with Adam and Eve, the base with the offerings of Cain and Abel to God, all the three with gilt-metal mounts and damages

Lot Essay

Gottfried Chodowiecki (1728-1781), the younger brother of Daniel Chodowiecki, specialised in drawings, engravings and enamels such as can be seen in this lot.
