A LOUIS XV STYLE ENAMELLED GOLD SNUFF-BOX WITH A MINIATURE INSIDE
with marks resembling to the charge and discharge of Éloy Brichard, the counter-mark of Jean-Jacques Prévost, date-letters crowned "R" and "V", the flange engraved "Garand AParis", the miniature Danish, circa 1745
Rectangular box, the cover, sides and base decorated with rectangular panels of engine-turned reeding and enamelled en plein with cartouche-shaped reserves painted with scènes champêtres, framed by Greek key pattern bands, the side border of the lid chased with flutes, the inside of the lid set with a rectangular glazed miniature of a young Danish Prince, half-length, facing left in embroidered lilac coat with silver frogging, ermine-lined red velvet cloak, black solitaire, decorated with the blue moiré sash and the breast-star of the Royal Danish Order of the Elephant, landscape background with pillar and velvet curtain to the left

It is possible that the miniature depicts King Frederick V of Denmark (1723-1766) as a crown prince (see Torben Holck Colding, Miniature- og Emaillemaleri i Denmark, Aalborg, 1991, p. 78, no. 157).
