maker's mark "NCQ", marked with a portcullis imitating the charge of Éloy Brichard and a date-letter crowned "K", one enamel miniature bearing signature "Comiot"
Oval box, the cover, sides and base enamelled in translucent blue on an engine-turned ground, sides and base chased and engraved with floral scrolls and swags in three-colour gold and enamelled en plein with oval cartouches painted with allegories of Love and Abundance Lost, Justice, Fidelity, Beauty and a Warrior's Love, within bands of translucent green enamelled basse-taille leaves, the cover applied with an oval enamel plaque signed "Comiot" painted with Cupid using a garland of roses to chain the feet of bare-breasted Venus and Mars seated on a bed, in a reeded mount within a scrolling frame chased in three-colour gold with a floral swag flanked by two warriors
