Lot Essay

The Ginory factory appears to have specialised in porcelain boxes with high relief decoration, sometimes imitating cameos as in the present case. They are usually attributed to Johann Karl Wendelin Anreiter. A similar box is illustrated in Barbara Beaucamp-Markowsky, Porzellandosen des 18. Jahrhunderts, Munich, 1985, p. 511-512, no. 466.
