A GEORGE III JEWELLED HARDSTONE AND GOLD NÉCESSAIRE

Rectangular case, the base, cover and sides inset with rectangular panels of striated yellow agate framed by a pierced gold cagework elaborately chased and engraved with foliage, c-scrolls, floral swags and birds, the front part of the lid applied with a heart-shaped rose-cut diamond flanked by two rectangular cabochon rubies, the front side of the base also applied with two circular cabochon rubies, the red velvet-lined interior containing tablets, a pair of glass bottles with stoppers and chased gold caps topped with emeralds, steel tweezers with incorporated nail-file set with gold-mounted emeralds, a gold and metal-capped pencil, a miniature gold spoon and a folding knife with chased gold handle and steel blade, the interior of the lid inset with a mirror, emerald set pushpiece
