Oval box, the cover set with an oval enamel miniature painted with a scene from the tragedy Mérope, within engraved gold laurel wreath frame, set on a translucent blue enamel panel enriched with opaque white crosses, within green enamelled laurel wreath and opalescent bead borders, the similar side panels divided by lyre-shaped scrolls hung with green enamelled foliate swags and opalescent beads, the base similarly enamelled
