A VICTORIAN MAHOGANY BALLOT BOX
The moulded rectangular top inlaid with four rectangular brass panels, inscribed Yes and No, surmounted by turned finials and four ebonised poles, the front fitted with two circular cylindrical dividers, painted with numbers 18 and 19, above two pairs of two short drawers, each with turned ebonised and simulated ivory handles, inscribed Y & N and two numbered 18 two numbered 19, on a moulded plinth and squat bun feet, 20½in. (52cm) wide; and an envelope posted in Edinburgh in 1868 to Harry Hare Esq, Secretary, Prestwick Golf Club, postmarked Ayr, November 1868
