THIS IS A PREPARATORY DRAWING FOR THE FIGURES OF THE BISHOP AND AN ACOLYTE IN VANNI'S PAINTING OF GUIDO TARLATTI, BISHOP OF AREZZO, DEDICATING THE CHURCH OF MONTEOLIVETO MAGGIORE (FIG. 1). THE PAINTING IS IN THE RIGHT TRANSEPT OF THAT CHURCH, ITS PENDANT DEPICTING THE INVESTITURE OF BERNARDO TOLOMEI, FOUNDER OF THE CHURCH.
