A reclining female Figure, with subsidiary studies of her arms

A study for the figure of Amphitrite in the picture sold at Sotheby's London, 28 March 1979, lot 84 (fig.1). The painting was engraved by Duflos and was possibly that exhibited at the Salon of 1737. The preparatory drawing for that composition was sold at Sotheby's London, 18 February 1991, lot 48.
