Girod-Lambert studied with Doyen and became an engraver. He exhibited at the Salon de la Correspondance a Massacre of the Innocents, which may correspond with the present drawing. From 1804 to 1815 he worked with Filhol at the Galerie du Musée Napoléon, which illustrated some 720 pictures from the newly created Musée Napoléon. A drawing for that publication was sold at Christie's South Kensington, 21 April 1998, lot 315.
