Possibly related to Girodet's picture of Pygmalion and Galatea exhibited at the Salon of 1819, V. Carlson et al., Vision of Antiquity, Neoclassical Figure Drawings, exhib. cat., Los Angeles County Museum of Art and elsewhere, 1993, p. 95, fig. 51. The painting, now in the Château de Dampierre in France, shows Galatea standing on a pedestal with her hand on her breast in a similar way.
