A GREEN, RED AND GILT-JAPANNED BUREAU-CABINET
Early 18th Centurys, Spanish
Decorated overall with Chinoiserie landscapes with birds, animals, flowers and foliage, the front of the bureau section with figures, bordered overall with foliate trellis, the double-domed moulded cornice above a pair of arched bevelled mirror-panelled doors with later plates, enclosing a fitted interior with twenty-four variously-sized pigeon-holes, nineteen variously-sized drawers around a central recess, the reverse of the doors conformingly-japanned and with hinged panels, the lower section with a hinged slope decorated with a hunting scene and enclosing a fitted interior with four pigeon-holes, ten small drawers, a green leather-lined writing-surface, a sliding well and a central concave-fronted cupboard enclosing three further small drawers, above two short and three long drawers, one drawer with paper label on bracket feet, inscribed in chalk to the reverse 'HT628', restorations and refreshments to the decoration, possibly originally with further bun feet
