It is believed that this engine spent much of it's first twenty years on the Jhansi Instructional Railway, India, owned by R. Horsfield (cf. Model Engineer 14 June - 26 July 1934). It remained in India until 1947 when it was acquired by the Hunstanton Pier Co. and was used in the film 'Barnacle Bill' (Alec Guiness starred) and in the late 1950's was acquired by H. Reed who converted it to 10¼in. gauge for his railways at Clissold Park and Cassiobury Park. He named it 'Maid Marion'. In the early 1970's it was sold to Hayle Towans Railway and in 1980 it was bought by the present owner since when it has been in store.
Currently it requires new safety valves and motion overhaul before being put into service; wheel flange profiles are suitable for running on steel rail.
