A 16-Bore German D.B. Percussion Sporting Gun

With twist sighted barrels signed in full in gold script on the rib, gold breech line, patent gold-inlaid breeches chiselled with foliage in low relief, long gold-inlaid tang en suite with shaped central panel chiselled in relief with a sportsman, dog, and hare against a gilt ground, back-action locks en suite and each with chiselled and gilt panel decorated with sporting vignettes, chiselled hammers, the noses each in the form of a stylised lion-head with gilt eyes, swivelling safety-stops, figured walnut half-stock finely carved in relief against a matted ground with scrollwork and with a lion-mask behind the chequered grip, and two foxes in a wooded landscape behind the cheek-piece, fore-end tip carved as a monster-head, carved horn trigger-guard (chipped), horn butt-plate, and later ramrod, the underside of the fore-end with iron escutcheon cast with a coat-of-arms (one sling mount missing)
