A 19th century silver and gem-set miniature desk seal of historical maritime interest
modelled as a hand, with ruby single stone-set ring, holding a quill, the sleeve with gilt naval rank insignia for a Rear-Admiral, set with three rose-cut diamonds, with plain foiled amethyst matrix, the mount engraved,"Made from a Shoe Buckle, recovered 1840 from the Wreck of H.M.S. Royal George Sunk at Spithead August 29. 1782." with engraved anchor motif, in fitted case with manuscript copy of the inscription.
