A 32-Bore Silesian Wheel-Lock Holster Pistol
Circa 1650
With tapering barrel retaining much of its punched decoration and stamped with maker's initials 'TR' at the breech, long slender tang, rounded lock with engraved flush-fitting cock, applied decorative cast and chased gilt-bronze circular plaque pierced with a townscape, scrolls, flower-heads, and two lions, and gilt-bronze pan-cover release button in the form of a putto-mask, the arm of the cock and the pan-cover finial each diagonally fluted, full stock profusely inlaid with horn animals, monsters, human figures, scrolls and pellets enriched with engraved mother-of-pearl, iron trigger-guard and forward ramrod-pipe, horn pommel engraved with a coat-of-arms, engraved horn fore-end cap, and original horn-tipped ramrod (iron parts with areas of light pitting, old repair to butt)
