A 40-Bore German Wheel-Lock Holster Pistol
Circa 1620
With tapering octagonal barrel struck at the breech with a maker's mark, 'BG' above a fleur-de-lys, flat lock struck with the same maker's mark, external wheel retained by a small iron bracket, and sliding pan-cover with slotted release button, walnut full stock (minor dents and cracks, fore-end tip replaced) inlaid with engraved staghorn plaques (some replaced) and plain staghorn lines (minor replacements), swivelling safety-catch opposite the lock, faceted globose pommel inlaid with further plain staghorn lines and a mother-of-pearl dot, iron trigger-guard, later engraved staghorn fore-end tip, and horn-tipped ramrod (iron parts with some areas of minor pitting and discolouration)
