A BLACK AND PALE GREYISH-GREEN JADE FIGURE OF A TURTLE
MING DYNASTY (1368-1644)
Cleverly carved utilizing the black markings as the carapace and head, the bent legs and abdomen on the underside carved from the pale greyish-green stone; together with; a black-streaked russet and black jade archaistic sword pommel, with slightly domed central area carved with three comma-shaped spirals accented by feathery markings
2½ in. (6.3 cm.) long; 1 15/16 in. (4.9 cm.) diam., two boxes (2)
Provenance
Both acquired in Hong Kong in the 1950s.
