Sri Lanka, Anuradhapura period, 8th/9th century
Seated on a shaped base with folded hands resting in his lap, the modeling of the torso visible through the thin sanghati, the face with humorous expression flanked by pendulous earlobes, the hair in tight curls, with traces of gilding remaining
