AFGHANISTAN OR KHORASSAN (CENTRAL IRAN), 12TH CENTURY
Of conical form on flat base, with slightly everted rim, the body decorated with a band of reciprocating teardrop motifs, each issuing trefoil engraved motif, the top with a band of engraved scrolls and the base with repeated 'S' motifs, some green surface patination; together with a small bronze jug, probably Khorassan or Iran, circa 10th century, heavily corroded and encrusted
The mortar 5¼ in. (13.5 cm.) diam. (2)
