A BROWN-STRIPED GLOBULAR JAR
NORTHERN SONG DYNASTY (AD 960-1127)
The high-shouldered, tapering globular body is decorated in brown with five groups of vertical stripes, each group composed of seven stripes, on an ivory-white ground applied over a white slip that ends above the foot and at the edge of the unglazed mouth rim exposing the coarse, buff ware. The interior is covered with a clear glaze.
