A Buen Retiro white biscuit group of a mother and child
Circa 1800
The mother in classical robes clasped at the shoulders, a drape over her hair, seated on a 'klismos' seat with sabre legs, tablet back and fronted by lion monopodia, holding a piece of bread broken from a large circular loaf steadied by her left hand, a crying child standing at her feet wiping his tears with his tunic, on a grassy oval mound base (her right forearm broken off and restored, knife-blade? lacking from her left hand, child broken through legs and from base and restored, chipping to chair, very small chip to bread and her left great toe)
