A Bungo Katana
Edo period (18th century), attributed to Takata Sadayuki
Hon-zukuri, iori-mune, torii-zori, chu-kissaki; the forging pattern ko-masame mixed with ko-itame; tempered edge suguha and ko-maru boshi; tang ubu with two holes and katte-sagari file marks; single silver habaki with "cat-scratch" design; 68.2cm. long; 3.1cm. wide at start of tempered edge; 2cm. wide before tip; koshirae comprising a modern black-lacquer saya, iron mokko iron tsuchime-ji tsuba pierced with family crests and inlaid with gold vines in hira-zogan, shibuichi migaki-ji fuchi-kashira, iron and gilt menuki of dragons
With certificate no. 273 issued by the Nihon Token Hozon Kai (Society for the Preservation of the Japanese Sword), dated 2001.9.8
