Kangxi Six-Character Mark in Underglaze Blue Within a Double Circle and of the Period
With steeply rounded, deep sides rising from a broad foot, all under a rich coffee-brown glaze thinning to white around the rim and stopping neatly above the foot

Lot Essay

A Kangxi-marked pair of bowls from the Kostolany and H. M. Knight Collections was included in the Exhibition of Monochrome Porcelain, Oriental Ceramic Society, London, 1948, Catalogue, no. 52. See, also, the pair of bowls exhibited in Qing Mark and Period Monochrome and Two-Coloured Wares, S. Marchant & Son, London, June 7-26, 1992, Catalogue, no. 2. Another pair of Kangxi-marked bowls, without the white-glazed rim, and with a higher foot, in the Hong Kong Museum of Art, was included in the exhibition, The Wonders of the Potter's Palette, Hong Kong, November 2, 1984 - January 6, 1985, Catalogue, no. 39
