A CARVED DUAN INKSTONE
QING DYNASTY, LATE 17TH/EARLY 18TH CENTURY

Of flattened thin form with irregular sides, the palette surface smoothly polished within a beaded border around the asymmetrical sides, the reverse finely carved on the sloping side with wispy clouds reserving the natural russet inclusions of the stone, resting on a polished flat base
