Carved around the base with scholars on either side of a table before a house nestled beneath pine trees with storage jars in a row, further trees, rocky cliffs, with an incised inscription to the reverse (minor repair)

Lot Essay

The inscription reads: Zhang Xu san bei cao sheng chuan, may be translated as 'The sacred grass (script) flows after three cups'. Zhang Xu is a famous Tang dynasty grass script calligrapher.
