Modelled as the braches of a fruit-laden apple tree, its upper branches supporting a candle nozzle, the male bird perched in a branch at the left feeding a worm to his roosting mate, the nest with fledgings, the tree base extending into rocaille scroll feet enriched in gilt and applied with flowers and leaves
