A CHELSEA GOLD-MOUNTED SCENT-BOTTLE AND STOPPER
CIRCA 1765
Modelled as a youth teasing a goat around a tree-trunk encrusted with fruiting vine, wearing a turquoise hat, a blue, purple and gilt flowered coat and puce breeches, on a mound inscribed to the underside in iron-red VOUS LE MERITEZ above a gilt flower-spray below a green dentil rim, the stopper formed from a cluster of fruit, the mounts engraved with a band of scrolling foliage, linked with a chain (very minor chipping to extremities, flaking to gilding on underside and minor areas of wear)
