A Chinese gilt bronze censer, 17th 18th century
of bombe shaped body decorated on the exterior in low relief with two archaistic taotie masks and flanges reserved on leiwen ground and divided by twin mythical beast ring handles, rising to the flared neck with two pairs of confronting winged mythical birds flanking a whirl motif alternating with cash, supported on a spreading foot with stylised dragons alternating with flanges -- 6 3/8in. (16.2cm.) wide.
